Submit a referral in the web app
Five steps in the web portal, start to finish — for when you already have both drop-off photos.
Five steps: customer, vehicle, location, photos, review. If you have the two drop-off photos already, you can file the whole referral yourself without involving a driver.
Customer info
Enter the vehicle owner’s first name, last name and phone number. Email is optional, and Pep Boys uses it to confirm the appointment, so it is worth adding when you have it.
Vehicle details
Paste the VIN and select Lookup. The NHTSA lookup fills in year, make and model for you. Otherwise enter them by hand.
Then add plate state, license plate and color, and pick a Service / Issue Type for what the vehicle is going in for. Service type is required.
Tow and location details
Search for the pickup address. You do not have to be at the pickup to file this, but if you are, I’m at the pickup drops the pin on your current position, and Adjust pin on map lets you move it.
Then choose the Pep Boys Drop-off Location. The list puts the nearest stores to the pickup first. Set the drop-off date and time, to the nearest 15 minutes.
Pep Boys Work Order Number is optional. Only fill it in if the store has already booked the job. If you leave it blank, Dolooma books the appointment with Pep Boys when you submit.
Additional Notes is free text for anything the store should know.
Choose who uploads the photos
Step 4 forks. Pick I have the photos to upload them now, which is what this article covers. Pick A driver will take them and the referral goes to a driver instead, which is covered in the handoff article.
Two photos are required:
| Required photo | What it needs to show |
|---|---|
| Vehicle in the Lot with Store Signage | The vehicle off the truck, on Pep Boys property, with the store sign in frame |
| Close-up with License Plate | Make, model and plate all readable |
There are two more optional slots for anything else worth showing, like damage or where the vehicle was left.
Review and submit
The review screen lists everything back: customer, vehicle, plate, pickup, service type, Pep Boys location, drop-off date and time, your photos, and the $20 reward shown as pending approval.
Tick both confirmations:
- That the photos clearly show the vehicle at the selected Pep Boys with store signage visible.
- That the information is accurate and the referral is within program guidelines.
If something goes wrong
- You do not have both photos. You cannot submit. Either get them from your driver, or go back to step 4 and send the referral to the driver instead.
- The drop-off was more than 48 hours ago. The date field will not accept it. Contact support before assuming it is lost.
- The store already booked the job. Put their work order number in at step 3 so it is not double-booked.
Getting paid
The referral goes to verification after you submit. Once approved, $20 is paid on top of your retail tow fee.
